Month of May: New York City

This post is definitely going to age me. We decided we'd take the DC to NY bus (4 hours driving) while my brother was here because we'd never been and thought it'd be fun. Well after I bought the tickets I was having major anxiety about going, almost to the point that I was ready to stay home with Harrison. First of all it was going to be a majorly long day: the bus left at 7:30am, we'd get to NY around noon, and then leave again at 7:30, getting home around midnight. So besides the super long day driving, walking, and with Harrison I was also convinced that something terrible was going to happen to us, like we'd get mugged or lost or something. I was so anxious about it that I even left my wedding ring at home. I think another thing that made me really nervous was that we'd never been there before and it's this HUGE city and we're supposed to figure out where we're going (which is weird because that kind of thing has never bothered me before). Well needless to say the trip couldn't have gone better. All that worry for nothing. Harrison did extremely well on the bus ride, the sights were awesome, I was even the one navigating us through the city, and I never even felt like we were in danger. But here are a few pics from the day.

Bus ride there....thank goodness for ipods and movies

Good Morning America and the Today Show Studio

All in all it was a great day trip....however I was definitely feeling it for the next week. Being 6 months pregnant and walking all day just about did me in.

Month of May: Part 1

May has been jammed packed with visitors and trips, it's been so much fun to see everyone! We've done so much this month I had to look back at our pictures just to remember everything we did. We'll start off  when my brother Brian flew out to see us the first week of May.  He had a job interview with a fire department in Virginia and decided to stay the week and visit. Did the usual sights in the mall but we also made it to the Library of Congress which I had not been to yet, which is really cool and one of my favorites now. I felt a little guilty because I relied heavily on my brother when we were out because Porter wasn't able to come to everything but he was such a good sport and Harrison really loved being with him.

Another fun thing we did while Brian was here was tour some of the embassies in DC. Every year they have an open house of many of the embassies and you can go sample food, culture, etc. It was pretty cool. So the ones we hit were: Belize, Japan, Turkey, Ivory Coast, Brazil, Bahamas, Haiti....and that was only in 2 hours!! We got there right when it started and by the time we left it was getting pretty packed and the lines were extremely long, so I think we went at the right time. So technically I guess you could say we've been so all these countries since the embassy property is considered part of that country....haha! At the Turkish Embassy we tried turkish delight.....not delightful at all! The moment it went in my mouth I immediately spit it out and had to find some water. Very bitter and gross, and of course Porter loved it.

And we went to a Nationals game. Way fun!! I thought it wouldn't be that great because we had super high seats but it was actually a pretty good view and Harrison really liked it. Plus they came back from down 2 in the bottom of the 9th with 2 outs and 2 strikes....it was a pretty amazing ending!
